Christ the King Parish

Christ the King Catholic Church, a dynamic parish of 3,500 families in South Tampa, Florida, is seeking a full-time Director of Music Ministry who will be responsible for planning and coordinating a comprehensive music program for the parish assuring stylistic variety within a unified whole. 

The Director of Music Ministry will direct/accompany/supervise musicians, instrumentalists, cantors, and choirs for six-weekend liturgies, once-a-week school mass, all holy days, and special liturgies (e.g., Stations of the Cross, Funerals, Weddings, First Communion, First Reconciliation, and Confirmation).  The parish presently includes three choirs; chant choir, family choir, and a traditional choir. The Director of Music Ministry will create and manage the music budget as well as all copyright reprint permissions.  The Director will collaborate with the Parish Liturgy Committee to plan liturgies. This is a full-time position with benefits.

Requirements:  Active, practicing Catholic. Bachelor’s Degree in music (Masters preferred). Minimum 5 years’ experience in Catholic music ministry with a thorough knowledge of Roman Catholic Liturgy and musical practices. Proficiency in multiple musical styles and genres (including traditional sacred music and contemporary sacred music). 

The church has a 43 Rank, Wicks Pipe Organ that was installed in 1990 with a recently installed four-manual custom-built Viscount console with enhanced digital voices, as well as a baby grand piano, Kurzweil and Yamaha digital pianos.  Solid training and experience are necessary with both instruments, as well as vocal skills and choir direction skills. 

Willingness to join a parish staff that works collaboratively across many ministries and departments. Strong communication and organizational skills. 

Candidate must successfully pass a Level II FBI background screening and complete Safe Environment Training.
