The Director of Religious Education (DRE) is responsible to design, implement, evaluate, and administer all catechetical programs for Saint Rita Catholic Church. This is a full time position with benefits.
- Pre-K thru 12th grade
- Sacramental Preparation for Baptism, First Reconciliation, First Eucharist, and Confirmation.
- Ritual of Catholic Initiation for Adults (RCIA) and children (RCIC).
Essential Functions:
- Develops catechetical programs which go beyond the traditional classroom models.
- Recruits, trains, and provides on-going assistance and support to catechists and aides, ensuring well-prepared, nurtured instructors. Promote catechists’ involvement in the Diocesan Certification Program, Lay Pastoral Ministry Institute (LPMI), and/or South East Pastoral Institute (SEPI).
- Provides ongoing adult formation for parents as to empower them in fulfilling their role as the primary catechist of children.
- Collaborates with the youth minister and acts as the liaison between the parish and Diocesan Office of Faith Formation. Attends staff and pastoral meetings to contribute to the growth and expansion of the parish.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bilingual (English-Spanish) practicing Roman Catholic whose lifestyle reflects in an exemplary ways Church teachings and values.
- A bachelor’s degree in theology/religious studies/education preferred.
- Three to five years of experience in catechetical leadership preferred.
- Competent in computer skills.
- Displays strong interpersonal skills allowing for effective inter-personal relationships with staff, parents, students, and volunteers.
- The director displays good organizational skills relating to but not limited to budgeting, scheduling and program preparation and integration with other parish activities and fundraising events.
Candidate must successfully pass a level II FBI background screening and complete Safe Environment Training prior to employment.
