St. Lawrence Parish in Tampa is seeking a full time Director of Youth Faith Formation.

Primary Responsibilities: Being a witness to his/her own encounter with Jesus Christ, inviting others to such an encounter, and forming them to live that encounter as missionary disciples on fire for the Lord and His Church.  Running the Youth Faith Formation Program, Confirmation, First Communion & Penance Preparation, RCIA adapted for children.  Coordinates Vacation Bible School.

Youth Faith Formation: Facilitates program for roughly 225 children PreK-8.  Recruit, train, and monitors Catechist team including catechists, aides, office team.  Update curriculum and program as needed.  Assess classes on a regular basis and works with catechists to grow in effectiveness.  Coordinate clergy visits, and other events with YFF that pastor desires.  Facilitate registration process for families.  Meet Diocesan Safe Environment standards.  Hold annual safety drills and updates emergency procedures. Facilitate community among catechist team.  Work with homeschool and special needs families.  Coordinate with team leader for La Familia parent ministry.

Edge:  Oversees the middle school youth ministry program, recruiting volunteers and participants, preparing the curriculum, leading Edge nights, and facilitating the connection of the youth and their families to the parish community at large. 

First Communion, Reconciliation, & Confirmation Preparation: Schedule, plan, and lead catechetical sessions, rehearsals, retreats, First Reconciliation service and First Communion Masses. 

RCIA – adapted for children. Formerly the Family Special Sacramental Preparation program, coordinates the catechists and paperwork for unbaptized children at the age of reason and above.

Vacation Bible School: Coordinates one set up week and one participant week of VBS in June with roughly 175 participants, 60 teen volunteers, and 20 adult volunteers. 

Other Staff Involvement:  Chair of Parish Family Gathering Committee.  Coordinates the Crowning of Mary.  Attends regularly schedule staff meetings.  Other involvement as the pastor desires. 

Qualifications: Bachelor Degree or higher required, with coursework in Catholic theology/philosophy and education preferred. Bi-lingual in English/Spanish preferred.

Candidate must successfully pass a Level II FDLE/FBI Background Screening and complete Safe Environment Training.
