Parish Communications Coordinator ~ Full-Time

Overview

The Parish Communications Coordinator is a full time position with benefits.  Applicant must be able to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends when necessary, and attend a weekly management team meeting. Must have an understanding and respect for the Roman Catholic faith.  Applicant should possess a welcoming personality and be willing to warmly greet parishioners and community members. The Communication Coordinator reports directly to the Pastor.

Qualifications

A degree in Communications, English, Journalism, or Marketing, or at least two year’s work experience in a related field.

Skills

  1. Strong writing, editing, proofreading, layout and design, must have expertise with all Microsoft Office products, especially Microsoft publisher, and Word Press. Must be able to support staff on all computer related issues: email, I Phone and Android applications.
  2. Must possess excellent organizational and planning skills
  3. Strong knowledge and understanding of current trends in digital media/social media
  4. Ability to coordinate phone system, copier and computer hardware and software needs
  5. Ability to work with technical support company

Responsibilities

  1. Produces the weekly bulletin on a timely basis, including proofing, editing and design.
  2. Assists Parish Management Team with all advertising, including the Diocese of St. Petersburg (DOSP) and Spirit FM event calendars, local free advertising venues. Keeps current on all parish events, faith formation programs and parish news.
  3. Assists Parish Management Team with the production and distribution of parish email newsletters and special messages from the Pastor.
  4. Regularly updates Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, My Parish and all other pertinent social media.
  5. Analyze and create monthly (or as needed) report on the data analytics results for the parish media communications.
  6. Collect and maintain contact information for ministry leads, and volunteers. Work closely with all Parish Ministry Leaders to provide communications service.
  7. Ensure that all office information systems are working properly, i.e. phone system, fax machines, copiers, overhead projector etc.

Must pass a Level II FBI Background Screening and complete on line Safe Environment Training.
