El Instituto Pastoral del Sureste (SEPI) es una organización misionera moderna que lleva el evangelio de Jesucristo a todo el Sureste de los Estados Unidos. Es una de las ocho oficinas regionales establecidas por los Obispos de EE.UU. para la atención de los hispanos. Fue fundada en el 1978.
El SEPI es una organización educacional y de servicio que asiste a los Obispos Católicos de ocho estados del sureste en desarrollar y entrenar líderes en su fe y cultura para la integración de la comunidad hispana en la vida de la iglesia y la sociedad.
El SEPI colabora con las diócesis en la implementación de sus planes pastorales, fortalece la vida familiar y promueve la dignidad y talentos del individuo.
¿Qué hace el SEPI?
El SEPI…
- evangeliza, educa, organiza y forma líderes hispanos;
- lleva sus programas educacionales y evangelizadores a comunidades de hispanos a lo largo de la Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Kentucky, Carolina del Norte, del Sur y Tennessee;
- colabora con cada diócesis en la organización de su Consejo Pastoral Hispano;
- asiste a cada diócesis con la programación e implementación del Plan del Ministerio Hispano;
- desarrolla y promueve el crecimiento integral de jóvenes por medio de talleres y seminarios de Pastoral juvenil;
- coordina, evalúa y planea junto con las diócesis las metas y objetivos de cada una de ellas;
- fomenta la formación integral, a través de programas que otorgan el grado de Maestría en cooperación con la Universidad de Barry. Esta formación también se logra con las Escuelas de Ministerio;
- El SEPI investiga, desarrolla e implementa recursos e información para crear nuevos instrumentos pastorales;
- entrena y desarrolla programas para el Liderazgo pastoral.
Costos:
Como la oficina regional asume la responsabilidad financiera del viaje y sueldo del profesor, el costo para el estudiante es mínimo. El cargo es de $30.00 por cada clase. La oficina encargada o la Diócesis se responsabilizan por obtener el local, publicidad, materiales, copias y por el hospedaje (Casa y comida) del profesorado. Se necesita un mínimo de 25 estudiantes.

EI programa completo de las Clases de Ministerio (NIVEL II) consta de 10 clases y se dictan durante dos años cada dos meses. Cada curso consta de 15 horas de instrucción y en total son 150 horas de preparación teológica y de liderazgo pastoral.
Las clases se dan los sábados de 9:00 a.m. a 5:00 p.m., y los domingos de 9:00 a.m. a 4:00 p.m. Todos los interesados en tomar las clases deben enviar una hoja de inscripción con el pago. Para que se les haga más fácil los pagos pueden pagar en cuotas. El total del costo de las clases es de $300.00 Los cheques deben hacerse a nombre de: Diocesis of St. Petersburg y ser enviados a la Oficina del Instituto Pastoral de Ministerios Laicos (LPMI), P. O. Box 40200, St. Petersburg, FL 33743

No se proveerá almuerzo. Hay una variedad de restaurantes en el área donde ustedes pueden comprarlo si lo desean o pueden traer algo para compartir.
La ropa debe de ser casual y cómoda. Como es imposible mantener la temperatura cómoda para todos le sugerimos que traiga un abrigo ligero o una chaqueta en caso de que el salón este muy frío.
No podemos acomodar niños de ninguna edad en este programa. Estas clases son para adultos. Por las pólizas diocesanas de Ambiente Seguro le pedimos que por favor hagan los arreglos necesarios para el cuidado de sus niños mientras usted atiende a las clases.

FYI: WHAT IS SEPI?
The Southeast Pastoral Institute (SEPI) is a modern missionary organization that spreads the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the whole Southeast of the USA. It is one of the eight regional offices established by the USCCB for ministry to the Hispanics. It was established in 1978.
SEPI is an educational and service organization that helps the Catholic bishops in eight states in the Southeast in developing and training leaders in their faith and culture with the integration of the Hispanic community in the life of the church and into society.
SEPI collaborates with the dioceses on the implementation of their pastoral plans, strengthens the family life and promotes the dignity and gifts of the individuals.
WHAT DOES SEPI DO?
SEPI evangelizes, educates, organizes and forms Hispanic leaders. SEPI takes its educational and evangelizing programs to Hispanic communities throughout Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Kentucky, North and South Carolina and Tennessee. It collaborates with each diocese in organizing their Hispanic Pastoral Council. It assists each diocese with the scheduling and implementation of the Hispanic Ministry Plan. It develops and promotes the integral growth of the youth through workshops and seminars for youth ministry. It coordinates, reviews and plans, together with the diocese, the goals and objectives of each diocese.
It encourages the integral formation through programs that grant a Master’s Degree in conjunction with Barry University. This formation is also obtained with the Schools of Ministry. SEPI investigates, develops and implements resources and information to create new pastoral tools. It trains and develops programs for the pastoral leadership.
COST?
Because the regional office assumes the financial responsibility for traveling and salary for the professor, the cost for the student is minimal. The fee is $30.00 for each class. The office in charge in the diocese is responsible for making arrangements for the location, promotion, materials, copies and stay (housing and food) for the professors. The classes should be of at least 25 students.
The complete program for the Level I Ministry classes is composed of 10 classes with duration of 2 years, every two months. Each class is 15 hours of instruction and a total of 150 hours of Theological teaching and pastoral leadership.
Classes are offered on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and on Sundays from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
People interested in taking the classes should complete and submit a registration form with the payment. For your convenience, the payments can be made in installments. Total cost for all of the classes is $300.00. Checks are made payable to: Diocese of St. Petersburg and should be mailed to the Lay Pastoral Ministry Institute/SEPI, Attention Dale Brown, P. O. NOTE: The registration fee is not reimbursable but it is allowed that the student finishes the course at a future date. The Diocese will have to pay SEPI even if the students don’t attend classes.
SEPI requires a minimum of 25 participants to be able to offer the courses. Once finished the course, each participant will receive a certificate. (Attendance to all courses is required in the 2-year cycle.).
Lunch will not be provided. There is a variety of restaurants in the area where you can buy lunch if you wish, or you can bring something to share.
Attire should be casual and comfortable. Please bring a jacket or light sweater in case that the temperature of the room is too cold.
We cannot accommodate children of any age on this program. Classes are for adults. Due to the diocesan policies on safe environments we ask you to please make the necessary arrangements for day care of your children so you can attend the classes.
