Diocese of Saint Petersburg Receives $950,000 for Safety Enhancements at Our Lady of Good Counsel Camp

TAMPA, Fla. — The Diocese of Saint Petersburg has been awarded $950,000 in the State of Florida budget, signed into law by Governor Ron DeSantis. These funds will be used to enhance the safety and security of Our Lady of Good Counsel Camp, the diocese’s youth summer camp in Brooksville.
The funding will support improvements that help maintain a safe environment for the thousands of children, teens, and families who participate in summer camps, retreats, and other faith formation programs at the camp each year.
The effort to secure the state funding for this initiative was begun by Raegan Miller, a past camper at Our Lady of Good Counsel Camp and advanced through Senator Darryl Rouson, a St. Petersburg politician and alumnus of what is now St. Petersburg Catholic High School.
The Diocese of Saint Petersburg is grateful to Governor DeSantis, Senator Rouson, and the Florida Legislature for their support of this important investment in the safety and well being of young people served by Our Lady of Good Counsel Camp.
