Our Mission

The Mission of the Ecumenical and Interreligious Office is to foster Christian Unity and Interreligious dialogue through cooperation, prayer, and understanding among our local and diocesan Catholic community with established religions of the area. We foresee dialogues of acceptance while understanding the varied precepts of faith among the participating religions, and we foresee fellowship in prayer centered on times of heightened civic awareness.

What We Do

  • Serve as a resource for the local parish striving to cooperate with local ecclesial communities and non-Christian groups related to social awareness.
  • Provide better information and awareness to the local parish initiating formats of prayer and fellowship.
  • Foster acceptance of various religions and practices while recognizing their individual talents and resources to accomplish activities for the good of the local area.

If your parish is planning an interfaith prayer service or ministry event, please notify the Ecumenical and Interreligious office at ecumenical@dosp.org so we can share the information on this site under “Happenings Around the Diocese”
