Mary Welcomes You with Open Arms – 3rd Annual Marian Congress

The Blessed Virgin Mary is a perfect model of evangelization. She leads us to her son Jesus Christ, and she welcomes each of us with open arms as her beloved children. This is who she is! In fact, after hearing that her cousin Elizabeth was to have a baby, Mary set out “in haste” (Luke 1:39-40) to visit her and comfort her. She warmly greeted her cousin and spent three months with her, being attentive to her needs.  This blessed encounter has been depicted in stained-glass windows and paintings around the world, including right here, at our very own Mary, Mother of God Chapel in the Cathedral of St. Jude the Apostle.

Last year’s Marian Congress was held in this chapel during the COVID-19 lock-down, when we could only leave our houses for essential work and responsibilities. Sadly, even our churches were closed for public worship. However, with the aid of our Blessed Mother, our annual Marian Congress was carried forward virtually.  This year, our committee has decided once again on a virtual gathering. We will join together for prayer, fellowship and faith-sharing, as well as to reflect on Mary’s generous hospitality. We will learn from the Blessed Virgin Mary how to lead others to Christ, to the Mass and to heaven, imitating the heart of our Blessed Mother.
