About Us

The African and Black Catholic Community of the Diocese of St. Petersburg is the umbrella body of all Catholic Communities of African heritage known to the Diocese of St. Petersburg: Black (African-American) Catholic Community, African Catholic Ministry, Igbo Catholic Community, Haitian Catholic Community, and Francophone African Catholic Community. There is no competition, but collaboration among these sub-communities. The African and Black Catholic Community is neither an independent Church nor a parallel association to the Diocese of St. Petersburg. So, whenever we think of African Mass, we should always think first of our membership of the Universal Church under the pastoral guidance of our shepherd, Bishop Gregory Parkes and his collaborators (pastors and chaplains) and look beyond the nations/countries represented at any given time and the continent of Africa to the bigger picture that includes all the members of the universal Church. You are invited to any and all of our Masses and events.
