Families of all ages and stages are invited to participate in a special event where they can create cards of kindness and compassion. As part of Sacred Heart’s commitment to the Diocese of St. Petersburg’s “1,000,000 Acts of Mercy Challenge,” the downtown parish is excited to share messages of mercy and hope that honor military service members and veterans as we approach Independence Day.

All are welcome to help craft these Messages of Mercy and Hope on Saturday, June 28, from 10 a.m. to Noon in Sacred Heart’s North Campus Auditorium. All are encouraged to bring additional craft items, such as paper, glue or glue sticks, stickers, glitter, or markers. An adult must accompany children under the age of 18. Those interested in attending are asked to RSVP at shfla.org/messagesofmercy.

This event is a celebration of the Catholic Church’s Jubilee Year of Hope. Through both the Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy, parishioners across the Diocese of St. Petersburg are working to make God’s mercy manifest within our communities. The goal is to be a sign of hope for our brothers and sisters who experience hardships. These Works of Mercy are tangible and measurable; no act is too large or too small, especially when done with great love. Empowered by the message of the Gospel, the Diocese is inviting people to take part in the challenge by collectively completing 1,000,000 works of mercy within this Jubilee Year. Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Downtown Tampa is the latest parish to answer this call.
