Ryan was born and raised in a suburb outside of New York City and at the age of fifteen, he began working at a nearby Catholic retreat center. During college, he was involved in the Newman Center and after receiving a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Temple University, he became the Associate Director of Youth Ministry for the Eastern Province of the Salesians of Don Bosco. There he was certificated in Youth Ministry from the Center for Ministry Development and focused on leadership development and service retreat opportunities for high school students, while also working with young adults (helping them to stay involved in their local Catholic communities while in college and after graduation), and assisting the vocations office in recruiting and forming seminarians. During this time he was also asked to evaluate and train youth ministry teams and volunteers at the various schools and parishes in the province. Currently, he is working towards a master’s degree in theology from St Leo’s University.
