This fall, the Diocese of St. Petersburg held a video contest for all the budding teen and college age videographers in our community. The title of the contest was “Why I love my church”, and participants were asked to use their creative juices to include elements of their parish, school, homeschool group, and ministries reflecting the past, present and future. And they had to do all of that within 1 to 3 minutes.

This contest brought out a competitive group, vying for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize, sponsored by Shalom World Television Channel, the commercial free, high definition, Catholic family TV channel.

First Place Winner – St. Catherine of Siena Parish Youth Group

Won $1,000 for youth programs and events

Second Place Winner – Vanessa Dockery, Sacred Heart Parish, Pinellas Park

Won $500 for youth programs and events

Third Place Winner – St. Joseph Syro Malabar Parish Youth Group

Won $250 for youth programs and events
