Mr. George Muhr
Late last week, the Chancellor’s Office was informed of the death of Mr. George Muhr, 85, father of Monsignor Michael Muhr, Pastor of St. Lawrence Parish, Tampa, on Wednesday evening, May 23, 2018, following a brief illness.  Mr. Muhr had been admitted to Legacy House, a Hospice facility in Ocala, shortly before his death.

Surviving family members include George’s wife Marlene, daughter Linda and sons David and Monsignor Michael Muhr.

A Funeral Mass and burial for Mr. Muhr will be held on Wednesday, June 20, 10:00 a.m., at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, in Mokena, Illinois.

Expressions of sympathy may be sent to Msgr. Michael Muhr and family, c/o St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 5225 N. Himes Avenue, Tampa, FL  33614.

Deacon James “Jim” Leonard
Deacon James “Jim” Leonard, from St. Frances Xavier Cabrini in Spring Hill, passed away on May 21, 2018. He is survived by his wife, Regina “Jean” of 58 years. Deacon Jim was ordained for the Diocese of Pittsburgh on June 26, 1999, and moved to the Diocese of St. Petersburg, initially in seasonal status, in 2004 and assigned to St. Scholastica in Lecanto. He was reassigned to St. Frances Cabrini in Spring Hill in 2006 in full-time status; he was granted retirement status in 2011 and remained active until his passing. Deacon Jim was 82.

The visitation for Deacon Jim was held on Thursday, May 24, 2018, at St. Frances Xavier Cabrini, 5030 Mariner Blvd., Spring Hill. The Funeral Mass was held on Friday, May 25, 2018, at St. Frances Cabrini. Expressions of sympathy for the Leonard family may be sent to the parish.
