POSITION NAME: Facilities Manager
REPORTS TO: Pastor
CLASSIFICATION: Salaried Full Time
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: The Facilities Manager serves directly under the Pastor and in
collaboration with the Parish Manager, fulfilling the proper methods of maintaining all physical
facilities. The facilities include the church building, parish hall, ministry building, offices,
rectories, and grounds. The ultimate goal is for all facilities to be in good order and to provide
preventative maintenance on a regular basis.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervises and manages major repairs and/or construction projects.
- Provides direction for other Parish Support Staff as needed.
- Directs and supervises all landscaping and grounds crew members.
- Ensures all contractors are properly vetted and supervised for all Parish campus
activity. - Requests and maintains contractors’ liability insurance and workers comp for the Parish
records. - Participates in negotiating contracts with suppliers and construction firms.
- Monitors and coordinates all campus security and safety needs, provides campus security
policy. - Assists in the maintenance of networks and digital infrastructure, including security cameras
and alarms. - Maintains a cost-effective and organized inventory of tools and supplies within budgetary
guidelines. - Verifies receipt and condition of supplies.
- Available to respond to campus emergencies and repairs after hours, such as alarms, A/C
problems, leaks, inclement weather, etc.. - Complies with Diocesan framework and procedures for major renovations or expenditures
- Coordinates response to liability and legal concerns related to the campus in cooperation with
the Diocese Facilities Office.
MAINTENANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assures the buildings are maintained in a clean and orderly manner.
- Performs general maintenance of the church, office, rectories, and ministry buildings.
Accomplishes this by doing light carpentry work, plumbing, painting, minor electrical, and repair
work on the facilities as needed. - Assures the collection and disposal of trash and garbage.
- Assists staff and ministries as needed (i.e., A/C, sound equipment, unlock doors,
etc.). - Provides general assistance as needed through setting up chairs and tables in the facilities as
requested, hauling and moving items, picking up supplies and equipment, deliveries for the Parish. - Support and assist with Parish/Diocesan events as needed.
- Assumes and/or performs additional related duties as requested and assigned by the Pastor and/or
Parish Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS/ SKILLS
- Must be an active, practicing Catholic able to express personal knowledge of the Catholic faith
and commitment to Catholic ideals. - Advanced knowledge of campus physical plant equipment, tools, and maintenance
processes. - Effective knowledge of and familiarity with modern technologies, especially computers (hardware
and software,) Microsoft Office Suite, audio/visual, networking, and security systems. - Attention to detail and high level of craftmanship.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Effective verbal, written, and listening communication abilities.
- Ability to lift at least 75 pounds.
- Ability to stay on feet for long periods of time.
- Ability to work without supervision.
- Ability to communicate with and aid Parish staff and various Parish and non-parochial
groups. - Professionally represent the Parish to outside businesses and organizations.
- Awareness of liability and litigation exposure related to the campus.
- Knowledge of work contracts and purchasing guidelines.
- Ability to work with small groups and to supervise employees and/or volunteers in a positive
working relationship. - Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- On-call availability for emergencies including evening hours, weekends and holidays.
- Successfully pass a level II (FBI) criminal history background check and attend Safe Environment
Training. - Comply with all policies of the Diocese of St. Petersburg and St. Frances Cabrini Parish, both
in person and on social media/online.
Candidate must successfully complete a Level II FBI background screening and attend Safe Environment Training.
