Job Title: Associate Director of Annual Giving
FLSA Status: Exempt
Reports To: Executive Director Stewardship and Development

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION AND MINISTRY
The mission of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Saint Petersburg is to proclaim the Good News and invite all people to
encounter the love and mercy of Jesus Christ. In the faithful pursuit of this mission, the Diocese is seeking a Associate
Director of Annual Giving. The Catholic Ministry Appeal is the largest fundraising program of the Diocese of Saint
Petersburg that provides significant funds for the Church’s mission and ministries throughout the year. Additional annual
giving campaigns include Giving Challenge, specialty gift promotion, Gulf Coast Catholic Magazine Reader Appeal,
Giving Tuesday, and collaborative assistance with the Spirit FM fundraisers.

Reporting to the Executive Director of Mission Advancement, the Associate Director of the Annual Giving is responsible
for leading strategic planning and coordinating all annual giving campaigns and activities. This position includes
responsibility for coordinating with pastors and parish teams; the direct mail, digital, marketing and major gift solicitation.
and management and stewardship of donors as directed by Executive Director. Further, the Associate Director of the
Annual Giving coordinates with internal and external partners to ensure all aspects of appeals are well synchronized and
effectively executed.


MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages the entire Catholic Ministry Appeal campaign and donor engagement process from data management,
    record synchronization and training with parish teams to communications, vendor services (mailings, fulfillment,
    gift processing, and digital outreach and marketing), donor cultivation, recognition, and stewardship.
  • Manages other annual giving campaigns and donor engagement process from data management, mailings,
    fulfillment, gift processing, and digital outreach and marketing), and donor acknowledgement including but not
    limited to: Gulf Coast Catholic Magazine Reader Appeal, #GivingTuesday, and Giving Challenge.
  • Collaborates with Spirit FM to coordinate calendars and provide feedback on developed materials for their efforts.
  • Works closely with all Mission Advancement director-level team members, Chancellor for Administration,
    Communication Team and Office of Finance.
  • Provides strategic guidance and effective planning to acquire new donors, enhance retention and recapture lapsed
    donors.
  • In conjunction with the Ministry Advancement Office, design and submit campaign collateral material for approval
    to ensure effective annual giving branding and messaging for print, online, email and social media content.
  • Meets with pastors and parish leaders at three annual meetings to prepare for the Catholic Ministry Appeal.
    Provides pastors and parish teams with resources and guidelines on essential tasks they will implement to help
    achieve the parish’s Annual Appeal goal.
  • Oversees tracking, analysis and reporting progress on a weekly basis to the Executive Director of Mission
    Advancement and as requested by the Chancellor for Administration and Bishop.
  • With the donor relations officer for the Office of Mission Advancement, the Associate Director of Annual Giving
    spends time cultivating and stewarding donor relations, requiring travel regionally when necessary.
  • Works with the donor relations officer to plan donor stewardship activities, including Giving Society recognition
    mailings and events, as well as Advent and Lenten companion mailings.

QUALITIES AND SKILLS

  • Practicing Catholic who supports the teachings of the Catholic Church.
  • Master’s degree and three (3) years’ experience or bachelor’s degree and (6) years’ experience in marketing,
    communication and/or resource development in the non-profit environment.
  • Experience in marketing and/or resource development is strongly preferred.
  • Must be supportive of the mission and tenets of the Roman Catholic Church. Experience in a Roman Catholic
    environment is a plus. Must be a Catholic in good standing.
  • Good oral and written English-language communication skills is a must, including a clear speaking voice. Spanish
    competency encouraged.
  • Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, WordPress, social media platforms, and logistics planning
    is required.
  • Skilled in presentations and group facilitation.
  • Type at least 60 wpm with 90% accuracy.
  • Good spelling and grammar required.
  • Excellent customer service skills required.
  • Knowledge of fundamentals of project management required.
  • Good time management skills including ability to manage several projects at the same time is required.

Candidate must successfully complete a Level II FBI background screening and attend Safe Environment Training.
