GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES

A growing Catholic parish in Citrus County (Diocese of St. Petersburg, Florida) is looking for a part-time Coordinator of our Parish Faith Formation. (CPFF). The CPFF will need to have the initiative to seek out the best possible ways to deliver the rich traditions of our faith, in alignment with the teachings of our Catholic Church. The Parish Faith Formation Program involves each stage of life from conception to natural death, with reverence and care for all stages of life and abilities. We currently have a small faith formation program; however, we are looking for ways to grow and expand. Creativity, compassion, kindness, and confidentiality are critical for this next stage of our development. Our goal is to enable others to experience the presence of God, to grow in their identity as beloved sons/daughters of God, and to acknowledge that each person is called to love, honor, and serve God.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: (The essential functions/major responsibilities listed are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed.  The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position.  Duties and responsibilities are also subject to change by the employer as the needs of the employer and requirements of the job change.) 

Programing, planning, teaching and administration:

  • Program Registration and Coordination of a small parish Faith Formation Program, with a vision to grow and develop our current programming.
  • Creative in supporting catechist training and development. 
  • Kindergarten to eighth grade – Sunday morning catechesis (at St. John Paul II School).
  • Sacramental Preparation:
    • Baptism – parents and families.
    • First Communion and Reconciliation (# of students).
    • Confirmation (8th graders) about l0 students.
    • Intake for OCIA (former RCIA) Candidates and Catechumens.
    • Possible Marriage Prep.
  • Vacation Bible School
  • Open to collaborating within our deanery for future youth ministry programs (Jr./Sr.High).

PARISH EVENTS

  • Support and assist with parish events, in particular the times when it is possible to recruit and find future catechists.

QUALIFICATIONS/ SKILLS

  • An active member of a Catholic community, participating in the Sacramental life of the Church.
  • Able to profess all that the Catholic Church professes as true, with a personal knowledge of the Catholic Faith and a commitment to Catholic ideals.
  • Able to work and collaborate with a small parish team.
  • Open to new approaches to catechesis for families and students.
  • Innovative, with a desire to improve and develop ways of teaching and catechesis.
  • Ability to successfully relate to people of all backgrounds, cultures, and ages.
  • A person who is a lifelong learner, with an interest to grow in one’s expertise.
    • Proficiency needed in database management and scheduling.
    • Ability to work with content management, copywriting, and editing.
  • Ability to learn from unsuccessful attempts and to move forward, armed with new knowledge and a drive to do better.
  • Responsible for completing work on time and with excellence.
  • Generate, edit, publish, and share content that could be published in our bulletin to update and inspire our community to be engaged and aware of our Faith Formation program.
  • Assist in updating the St. Scholastica online presence for Faith Formation. 
  • Successfully pass a level II (FBI) criminal history background check and attend Safe Environment Training before employment.
