Position Summary
Rooted in the diocesan mission and guided by the principles of stewardship, the Development Coordinator plays a vital role in implementing and supporting diocesan appeals and fundraising initiatives, including the Catholic Ministry Appeal, Mater Dei Giving Society, and other annual giving efforts.
The coordinator supports the Senior Director of Development and the Director of Annual Appeals through project management, creative design, event coordination, donor communications, and data management in Salesforce. The position also collaborates with pastors, parish leaders, and external vendors to ensure professional execution of all campaigns and events.
Key Responsibilities
Catholic Ministry Appeal
- Assist with drafting and designing appeal letters, bulletins, invitations, posters, and digital assets (using Canva, Publisher, or similar tools).
- Coordinate parish collateral and communication (e.g., letterhead, pastor signatures, inventory).
- Support reporting through Salesforce (All Parish Summary Report, Pledge Variance Report).
- Manage weekly Catholic Ministry Appeal progress reports and communications to parishes.
- Collaborate on digital campaign content, videos, and social media materials.
- Support vendor relationships for design, printing, translation, fulfillment, and mailing.
- Coordinate pastor and parish training sessions and maintain annual training resources online.
- Provide weekly campaign reports and analysis to diocesan leadership.
Mater Dei Giving Society & Event Coordination
- Assist with planning, coordination, and day-of management of donor and stewardship events.
- Design and distribute invitations, programs, and solicitation materials.
- Manage RSVPs, event timelines, and vendor logistics.
Other Annual Appeals
- Support additional giving campaigns such as #GivingTuesday, Giving Challenge, and Gulf Coast Catholic Magazine Reader Appeal.
- Collaborate with Spirit FM for on-air promotions and donor drives.
Administrative Support
- Provide administrative support for the Development Office including correspondence, scheduling, and file management.
- Assist with vendor payments, W-9 forms, credit card reconciliations, and mailings.
- Record meeting minutes, create agendas, and maintain organized office systems.
- Support diocesan travel arrangements, meeting setup, and technology needs.
Qualifications
Catholic Identity
- Must be a practicing Catholic in good standing, knowledgeable of and faithful to Church teachings, and able to represent the Bishop’s mission and message in all communications.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in fundraising, nonprofit management, marketing, communications, or related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience managing or supporting annual appeals or nonprofit fundraising campaigns.
- Experience with event planning and design strongly preferred.
- Spanish language fluency a plus.
Skills
- Proficient in Salesforce or similar donor databases (Raiser’s Edge, ParishSoft, Ministry Platform).
- Strong design skills (Canva, Publisher, InDesign, or equivalent).
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Highly organized with ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Able to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.
- Self-motivated, collaborative, and adaptable.
Working Conditions
- Full-time, exempt position based at the Pastoral Center.
- Regional travel within the Diocese and occasional evening or weekend events required.
- Participation in annual International Catholic Stewardship Council (ICSC) events encouraged.
