GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:  The mission of Facilities Maintenance is to serve and assist the St. Scholastica Parish in the proper methods of maintaining physical facilities.  The facilities include the parish church, hall, grounds, and rectories. The ultimate goal is for all facilities to be in good order and to provide preventative maintenance regularly. 20-25 hours per week. The pay rate depends on experience.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: (The essential functions/major responsibilities listed are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed.  The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position.  Duties and responsibilities are also subject to change by the employer as the needs of the employer and requirements of the job change.) 

  • Assures the parish is maintained in a clean and orderly manner.
  • Provides general assistance as needed through setting up chairs and tables in the facilities as requested, hauling and moving items, and occasional support errands in support of the parish operations. .
  • Performs general maintenance of the rectory, church, hall, and grounds.
  • Assures the collection and disposal of trash and garbage.
  • Assists staff and ministries as needed (i.e. AC, sound equipment, unlock doors)
  • Reports cleaning and maintenance inventory needs to the Parish Operations Manager.
  • Required hours for this position are Monday through Thursday 0800am – 0200pm.

PARISH EVENTS

  • Support and assist with parish-wide events as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS/ SKILLS

  • Basic handyman skills.
  • Ability to communicate and to help the parish staff, volunteers, and organizations within reasonable limits. 
  • Ability to maintain a positive, professional, and courteous working relationship with others.
  • Attention to detail with an ability to plan for preventative maintenance and to work with outside contractors, in alignment with diocesan protocols.
  • Ability to work without supervision with a vision for what needs to be done.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • On-call availability for emergencies, willing to work overtime as needed.
  • Successfully pass a level II (FBI) criminal history background check and attend Safe Environment Training
