Our parish is seeking a dedicated and reliable Maintenance Technician to help care for our church campus and support the daily life of our faith community. This role is essential in creating a clean, safe, and welcoming environment where parishioners can worship, learn, and gather.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Facilities & Repairs

  • Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, lighting).
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify safety issues or needed repairs.
  • Coordinate with outside vendors for specialized work.

Custodial & Cleaning

  • Clean and maintain the church, parish hall, rectory, offices, and restrooms.
  • Set up and break down spaces for Masses, meetings, and parish events.
  • Ensure all public areas remain tidy, stocked, and presentable.

Grounds Keeping

  • Maintain parish grounds, including mowing, trimming, watering, and seasonal landscaping.
  • Keep walkways clear and safe.

Liturgical Support

  • Prepare worship spaces for Mass and special liturgical seasons.
  • Assist clergy and staff with setup for major celebrations.
  • Handle sacred spaces and items with care and respect.

General Operations

  • Monitor and restock maintenance supplies.
  • Open and secure buildings according to parish schedules.
  • Respond promptly to facility-related emergencies.

Required

  • Experience in maintenance, custodial work, or a related field.
  • Basic knowledge of building systems and general repairs.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Comfort working in a Catholic parish environment.

Preferred

  • Experience in a church, school, or nonprofit setting.
  • Familiarity with safety procedures and facility management.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Schedule & Work Environment

  • Occasional evenings, weekends, or holidays may be required for parish events.
  • Work includes both indoor and outdoor tasks in varying weather conditions.
  • Reports to the Pastor, Office Manager
