Job Responsibilities:
- Availability and capacity to engage parishioners to a “full, active, and conscious” participation in the liturgy through music.
- Possess a basic understanding of Catholic liturgy and music.
- Must be able to sing and direct a choir.
- Must be able to play the organ and piano.
- Responsible for music for all Sundays, Holy Days, Holy Week, Easter, Christmas, First Communion, Confirmation (when necessary), Thanksgiving, etc.
- Play all Sunday morning Masses 8:00 am (cantor) & 10:30 am (with choir).
- Engage with the congregation, especially when learning new hymns.
- Utilize the missal and music supplements.
- Conduct choir practice on a weekly basis.
- Prepare music for all Masses and other celebrations for the overhead projectors.
- Actively recruit, train, and develop cantors, adult and youth, as well as instrumentalists.
- Host a Christmas concert.
- Provide annual budget for music ministry.
- Find a replacement when unable to play.
- Remain updated on diocesan policies and guidelines.
- Attend annual planning meeting, liturgical committee meetings, and other staff functions as required.
- Be cognizant of and participate in parish events.
- Must successfully complete a FDLE Level II Criminal Background screening and complete Safe Environment training.
