Mr. Fintan Muldoon
November 7, 1944 – April 14, 2015

We received word that Mr. Fintan Muldoon, 70, brother of Monsignor Brendan Muldoon, Pastor of St. Jerome Parish, Indian Rocks Beach, passed away in the Lord on April 14, 2015 in Charlotte, North Carolina, after a lengthy battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (commonly known as ALS or “Lou Gehrig’s Disease”).

Fintan Muldoon was born in Kinvara, Co. Galway, Ireland.  He attended seminary at St. Patrick’s College, Maynooth and was ordained to the priesthood for the Diocese of St. Petersburg in June 1969. During his active ministry, he served at St. Cecelia Parish, Clearwater; Corpus Christi Parish, Temple Terrace; and the Catholic Student Center at the University of South Florida. In 1975, he left active ministry and subsequently earned a Master’s Degree in Social Work, from Barry University in Miami, Florida. He later met his wife, Diane, and moved to Charlotte, North Carolina, where he was employed in hospital social work and information technology until his retirement in 2012. Mr. Muldoon developed ALS shortly
thereafter. Family members who preceded Mr. Muldoon in death include his parents, Joseph and Sarah (Gardiner) Muldoon. Survivors include his wife
of 35 years, Diane, two children and three grandchildren.

A private service will be held in Charlotte, North Carolina. Mr. Muldoon will be buried in Kinvara, Co. Galway, Ireland at a later date.
