Mr. Christopher Parkes
It is with sadness that we report the passing of Mr. Christopher J. Parkes, 55, brother of Most Reverend Gregory Parkes, Bishop of St. Petersburg, on Friday evening, August 25, 2017, after suffering from complications due to a recent heart surgery, near his home in Utah.

Mr. Parkes was preceded in death by his parents, Ronald and Joan Parkes, and is survived by his wife, TJ, his daughter, Courtney, and his two brothers, Father Stephen and Bishop Gregory Parkes, in addition to extended family members.

Funeral arrangements are pending and additional information will be provided as it becomes available.  Please keep the entire Parkes family in your kind thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.


Deacon John Buckley
The Chancellor’s Office has received word that Deacon John Buckley, from St. Catherine of Siena, passed away in the early hours of Sunday, August 27, 2017 while in rehab following a recent hospitalization. He just celebrated his 75th Birthday on Saturday. The family is planning a Funeral Mass and burial to take place in New York but local arrangements have not yet been discussed. Please keep John’s wife Helen, and their entire family in your thoughts and prayers at this most difficult time.

Mr. George Pioli
Mr. George Pioli, 71, former Director of Religious Education at St. Jude Cathedral and Holy Family Parish, St. Petersburg passed away on August 26, 2017, at Northside Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Born in New York, NY, on August 24, 1946 to George and Renee Pioli, he married Carolyn Toth on May 8, 1999. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving from 1967 to 1982. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, and the American Legion. George and Carolyn attended Holy Family Catholic Church in St Petersburg.

George is survived by his wife of 17 years; niece, Vanessa Richardson; and nephew Paul Pioli. He is predeceased by his parents and his brother, Peter Pioli. The family will receive visitors on Friday, September 1st, at 6:00 PM at Anderson McQueen Funeral Home. A rosary service will be held at 7:30. A funeral  Mass will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church on Saturday, September 2nd, at 11:00 AM, with visitation beginning at 9:30 AM.


Mr. William Ralph Reid, Jr.
Mr. William Ralph Reid Jr, 85, of Clearwater, Florida, stepfather of Margaret Becker, Manager Financial Systems Administrator, passed away on Monday, August 21, 2017 under Hospice care.  He was born in Philadelphia, PA.  and was a Korean War Navy veteran.  He was also a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church.  He enjoyed surf fishing, cigars, shuffleboard and Caribbean cruises.  He was preceded in death by his first wife Catherine Reid (McPhillips).  He is survived by his daughters Helen Andra (Rick), Joanne VanHorn (Pete Groth), Eileen Dylinski (Michael), son William Reid (Donna Wernert) and eight grandchildren, Michael Andra, Matthew Andra, Randy Van Horn, Emily Groth, Theodore Dylinski, Nicole Dylinski, Andrew Reid and Erin Reid.  He is also survived by his second wife Rose Quartucci Reid and stepdaughter, Margi Becker (Harold).

Florida family and friends may call on September 8, 2017 10:00 a.m. at St. Michael the Archangel  Catholic Church, Clearwater, for a funeral Mass.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Suncoast Hospice.


Mrs. Carolyn Hermes
We received word that Mrs. Carolyn Hermes, 83, mother of Father Richard Hermes, S.J., President of Jesuit High School, Tampa, passed away on Friday, August 18, 2017, in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Mrs. Hermes was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne, and is survived by her eight children, twenty-one grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

All funeral services and burial were held in Mrs. Hermes longtime home city of Shreveport.

Mr. Bruce Lambert
Mr. Bruce Lambert, brother of Deacon Greg Lambert, of St. Lawrence Parish, Tampa, passed away on August 22, 2017.  Mr. Lambert was under Hospice care at the home of Deacon Greg and his wife, Kathy.  Funeral arrangements have not yet been determined.

Reverend Edmund Ansaloni, O.F.M.
Reverend Edmund Ansaloni, O.F.M., 93, a retired priest of the Franciscan Order of Friars Minor, of the Immaculate Conception Province, passed away on Tuesday, March 28, 2017, after suffering a major stroke.

Father Ansaloni was born in Salem, Massachusetts. In 1943, he became a professed member of the Order of Friars Minor and was ordained to the priesthood on May 8, 1949. In 1998, he retired to Florida, where he resided at St. Paul Friary, Clearwater for nearly 19 years, enjoying the ministerial faculties of the Diocese of St. Petersburg.

All funeral services and burial took place in Father Ansaloni’s home state of Massachusetts.
