Sacred Heart Field Trip to Weedon Island

In celebration of their winning door display for Red Ribbon Week in October, the 3rd grade students of Sacred Heart Catholic School in Pinellas Park, FL and their teacher, Mrs. Robbie Mueller, were awarded an extra field trip to Weedon Isand for the “Sensing Nature” field trip.

The students learned all about Florida’s ecosystems, how to be environmentally ethical, and even were able to help beautiful Weedon Island by participating in an early Earth Day “clean up” session.    The adventure was led by Jeanne Murphy, a Wildlife Biologist, and Brain Lake, an Ecologist.

The students left Weedon Island with a better understanding of Florida’s natural plant and wildlife population, as well as the importance of the 3 R’s in Conservation:  Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.
