Each year the second grade students of St. Cecelia Interparochial Catholic School participate in several Pay it Forward projects. Throughout the year, the students learn the importance of prayer, service, and giving. In January, students helped an organization called Food for the Poor and their “We Pledge 100” campaign. Ms. Colossia Butts, the organization’s school outreach representative, came to speak with us about their work in Ti Limbe, Haiti. We were so inspired by what we heard that we painted bowls that were auctioned off at our Discovery Night held on January 20th. We sold 47 bowls and raised $1,030.00! The donation will go directly to help Food for the Poor meet their goals of: building a clean water well, building 50 homes and a new school, planting new trees, purchasing chickens, and providing food for the hungry people of Ti Limbe.
