Additional Information About 40 Days for Life

40 Days for Life has succeeded in shutting down abortion facilities and has documented saving thousands of babies. In addition to the babies, hundreds of abortion workers have quit their jobs and walked away from the abortion industry and thousands of women have been spared the suffering and trauma that comes with the decision to abort one’s own child.

Abortion is a crisis that hurts women, divides families and dehumanizes the most innocent among us. Every year more than 40 million innocent children die from abortion.

During 40 Days for Life, volunteers stand together outside of a Planned Parenthood center or other abortion facilities for around-the-clock prayer vigils. Those who stand witness show pregnant women that they are loved and that they have other options to abortion. The participants, of various faith communities, also pray for an end to abortion and the healing for all impacted by the trauma of abortion, including mothers and fathers, abortion workers and family members.

In addition to prayer outside of abortion facilities, 40 Days for Life participants are asked to fast during the campaign. People of faith believe that when God’s people fast with a broken, repentant and contrite spirit, our heavenly Father will hear from heaven and heal our lives, our churches, our communities, our nation, and our world.

40 Days for Life began outside of a Planned Parenthood abortion facility in Bryan/College Station, Texas in 2004, which has since closed. The building now serves as the international headquarters for 40 Days for Life.

All prayer vigil participants are asked to sign a statement of peace, pledging to conduct themselves in a Christ-like manner at all times.
