CONSECRATION TO MARY
The Diocese of St. Petersburg Will Be Consecrated to the Immaculate Heart of Mary on May 6
All are invited to the Cathedral of St. Jude the Apostle (5815 5th Ave N, St. Petersburg) on May 6 at 3 p.m. for a Holy Hour (Eucharistic Adoration – not a Mass) led by Bishop Parkes to take part in this special celebration during the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Diocese of St. Petersburg.  For more information, visit:  www.dosp.org/heartofmary/.

ORDINATION TO THE PRIESTHOOD
Bishop Gregory Parkes will ordain Deacons Kyle Bell, Louis Turcotte and Timothy Williford to the priesthood on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Cathedral of St. Jude the Apostle, St. Petersburg.

Save the Date for the Family Faith Fest on October 27, 2018
Mark your calendar now to join Bishop Gregory Parkes for the Family Faith Fest at Al Lopez Park in Tampa on October 27, 2018. To celebrate our 50-year anniversary, the Diocese of St. Petersburg is offering a music and faith festival that includes Confession, Eucharistic Adoration, and the celebration of Mass. Two stages will feature live music and entertainment. This is a free event, open to all. www.FamilyFaithFest.org.

YOUTH VIDEO CONTEST
The Diocese of St. Petersburg celebrates its 50th Anniversary during 2018. Teens have an opportunity to learn about the history of their local Church through a video contest that answers the question: “Why I love the Church.” The best videos will be featured on the diocesan website and played at the Family Faith Fest on October 27, 2018. SPECIAL EDITION 2019 CALENDARS WILL BE AVAILABLE
The Diocese of St. Petersburg is pleased to announce that a special 50th anniversary edition calendar will be available to order for 2019. This calendar will highlight historical dates from parishes, schools and other entities within the Diocese. The calendar, which will feature historical photos, will also have the usual liturgical dates listed throughout the year. It will be offered through Catholic Extension and they will be reaching out to parishes to coordinate ordering copies for distribution. The total cost of calendars will be $1.35 + $0.15 shipping per calendar. Parish sponsors will still be able to assist in funding calendar orders and will be featured in the special edition per the usual fashion on the extended bottom flap. Questions or concerns? EWTN TO AIR DOCUMENTARY ON THE FLORIDA MARTYRS ON JUNE 6, 2018
Famed “Miracle Hunter” Michael O’Neill’s EWTN series “They Might Be Saints” will air a special one-hour episode on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at 10:00 p.m. EDT featuring the proposed Martyrs of la Florida. The cause for the Martyrs of la Florida is currently being prepared for submission to the Congregation for the Causes of Saints in Rome. Bishop Gregory Parkes and Diocese of St. Petersburg priest, Father Len Plazewski, are interviewed on the program.

MARY IN MODERN TIMES, instructed by Dr. Peter Howard, Mariologist, author and international Catholic speaker.  The focus of this course is Marian Spirituality, including Biblical Marian spirituality, Church teaching on Mary since Vatican II, the ole of doctrine in spirituality, relation of Holy Spirit and Mary in spirituality, Mary’s role in spiritual growth, direction and discernment.
