Returning to God this Lent

Posted inLent

The season of Lent begins with Ash Wednesday on March 2, 2022. This season is a time when Christians prepare their hearts for the celebration of Easter, the resurrection of our Lord, Jesus Christ. Have you thought about how you will spend your Lenten Season?  Bishop Gregory Parkes has a message to help you stay focused on the reason for the season. (Click here for Spanish version.)

During Lent, we are reminded to turn away from faithless ways and to be renewed in our faith. We are encouraged to raise up the needs of the world in prayer, to sacrifice or fast by giving up food or material wants, and to offer our time, talent, and treasure as good stewards of the gifts God has given us.

In his Lenten message for 2022, Pope Francis said, “”Lent is a favorable time to seek out — and not to avoid — those in need; to reach out — and not to ignore — those who need a sympathetic ear and a good word; to visit — and not to abandon — those who are lonely.”

“Return to the LORD, your God, for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, abounding in steadfast love”

Joel 2:13
